  • Clara Janssen Patriotic Plaid Women's Pajamas
    Item #: BXCM039
Every Christmas Eve my sisters and I each got to open one present. And though we always acted surprised, we knew, without a shadow of a doubt, what we would find underneath the Christmas wrapping paper. For every year it was the same gift: pajamas. Pajamas that had been made for all of us by my grandmother, Clara. Every fall she would get one bolt of fabric at the store, and from it she made Christmas pajamas for everyone in our family. As the years past and we grew older my grandmother stopped making pajamas for us. I think she thought that we had grown out of the tradition, that we no longer cared whether or not they were waiting for us underneath the tree. But in truth, I never did grow out of it. I knew the time and the love that my grandmother had put into making the pajamas for us. I can still imagine Clara sitting behind her sewing machine in the evening sewing our pajamas, smiling with the thought of our excited faces as we open them. She created a memory and a tradition that I will always cherish and strive to preserve. A tradition that I have carried on with my children, and a tradition that we at 1791 would like to share with you. Earlier this fall, just like my grandmother, we got into the truck and bought a bolt of fabric (or two), and using the same basic pattern, we made our version of Clara’s Christmas pajamas. We hope that you will give them to your family and that you will see the same joy in your children’s faces when they open them that my grandmother saw in ours.

  • 1791 Miners Wash Denim Men's Straight-Leg Jeans
    Item #: BXAM191
    1791 Miners Wash Edition
    Limited Run

It’s no secret that 1791’s selvage denim designs are inspired by classic American work wear. As we pored over turn-of-the-century photos of the blue-collar Americans who built this country, we challenged ourselves to dig deeper and create the authentic work wear recreation possible. The result is the Miners’ Wash Edition.

This limited edition wash displays true attention to detail. The softened feel, the “whiskers” that form where the jeans crease, and the sun-faded and worn leather patch, are all painstakingly re-created from photographs. Our designers and artists take the denim through more than ten steps-many done by hand-so that each piece has unique character. Come to think of it, we may not have worked as hard on these jeans as a coal miner but we think we’re pretty darn close.

Our premium ring-spun selvage denim jeans are 100% Made in the USA. The 13.5 oz. Red Line Selvage denim is 100% cotton, woven in Greensboro, North Carolina at Cone Denim® Mills. They are cut and sewn in Kentucky in a factory that has been operating since 1911. Our vintage inspired western fit jean has been rinsed and distressed to soften the jean and reduce shrinkage. Designed with a slight kick in the front pockets for easy accessibility and a slight opening at the ankle to fit comfortably over your boot. Each pair of jeans has been painstakingly constructed by America's most skilled denim craftsmen. Custom 1791 & Co. copper washer and aluminum burr rivet are used on all points of strain on the jeans. The denim fibers that are pushed up through the washer are a mark of authenticity. The suede leather patch on the back of our jeans have all been personally hand branded with the 1791 logo.
